Happy Veterans Days from MI-JOE Automotive Specialties of Amityville, NY

Veterans Day is a time to honor the men and women who served in our U.S. Armed Forces for giving the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect our country. The federal holiday was originally established by an Act of Congress in 1938. It was called “Armistice Day,” which honored those who served in WWI. The holiday was amended and renamed Veterans Day in 1954. Today, Veterans Day honors those who’ve served in all wars (including WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, and the Iraq War). It is held each year on the 11^th day of the 11^th month. The significance of the date coincides with the official end of WWI (on the 11^th hour of the 11^th day of the 11^th month) in 1918.
